“Remember to Keep the Sabbath Day Holy” is the fourth out of eleven commandments. Biblically speaking the Sabbath is Saturday not Sunday. Due to our normal patterned work week and church services, many Christians find it more convenient to worship on Sunday. Moreover, many churches aren’t offering any worship service on any other day other than Sunday. This is fine!
Remember when God rested on the seventh day, his time frame was, is, and always will be different from ours. Whatever day you choose, try your best to stick to it, unless your work week constantly changes. I would recommend any day of the week where you aren’t bound by financial work. Set one day aside that is seperate from the rest of the week and make it holy.
I would recommend using that day to serve Christ Jesus by worshipping and serving others.
Technically, worshipping and “keeping it holy” are not necessary synonymous. If you wish, keep the Sabbath (Saturday) Holy but worship on Sunday or visa verse. Do it because of your life pattern dictates this, not because of a soon to be mandated law. Keeping the Sabbath holy could mean a variety of things to a variety of people. Holy for me, in regard to counseling to you, means no financial work if possible, limited or better yet no stress and the avoidance of many things that through the week one may not follow as intensely. Lastly, worshipping in and/or outside of a structured building (church.)
My advise to you all is this, the best way to keep it holy is to help and serve others.
Remember the pharisees were against helping others out on the Sabbath but Jesus was not only for it but rubbed the pharisee’s noses in it. Are you a pharisee? What does this tell you? Doesn’t that inform you that breaking the Sabbath for things like helping your fellow man actually pleases God.
Remember Christ died because none of us can keep the commandments perfectly. Have you forgotten brothers? We have all fallen short. If you try to base your salvation on keeping those commandments, doesn’t that take
away from Christ’s cruel death on the cross? In addition, you are doomed to failure because none of us are that good. Let me repeat this, none of us are that great. Am I saying why bother trying to keep any of the commandments? Absolutely not! It may require blood, sweat and tears, but that is the bitter sweet truth of following Christ by walking with your cross. What I’m saying is this, when you break any commandment as we all do and will do, repent from it and grow from it and try your best not to repeat the same mistakes. If you fail again, try again, but never give up trying, never lose hope and always keep your eyes on the prize-which is the gift of everlasting life with Christ Jesus.
Christ had told me to go back to my Presbyterian Church and I have. We worship on Sunday.I don’t have any guilt or fear of it one bit. If the time comes that Christ tells me to inform my Pastor we need to switch our day of worship to Saturday-I will do what I can and I will post this immediately with an apology. However, I seriously doubt Christ will inform me of this and I seriously doubt that our church would be willing to meet on Saturday. I believe Christ has already spoken to me to write this much needed article on “The Sabbath.”
I won’t tell you in any detail regarding how I keep the Sabbath holy because what I expect of myself is far greater than what I will preach to you all.
If a Sunday Holy Day Observance Rule is mandated and you follow it out, this could very well be the “Mark Of The Beast.” This means if any individual enforces and/or strictly monitors a new Sabbath Law, don’t buy in to it.
I believe a rule will be set forth that prohibits any buying and selling on Sunday, and all people will be advised to go to church on Sunday.
Keep the Sabbath Holy because of your love for Christ, not out of love for the pope, his church or any type of earthly reprisals.
Remember the lawless one will change the times and the laws. Saturday is the true Sabbath and the law doesn’t necessary state one must not buy or sell. If you choose to not partake in buying or selling, do it because of your personal believes and not because a new rule which may enforce this.
Peace and love in Christ Jesus.
John
