He was a writer of books, television screen plays and stage productions. The Marquis de Cuevas, (a friend of Salvador Dali) praised him publicly. Greta Garbo unsuccessfully, pleaded for his painting "Musical Dragon." it hangs in the bedroom.
Erik wrote several books and a myriad of plays, and short stories. He was a Boutique manufacturer in New York. He was a fabric designer. He had a one man show in Paris of his paintings. He manufactured a line of women's belts called Javenta (his mother's name). This collection was displayed on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. He was a Purser for Flying Tiger Airlines. He was a model for clothing advertisements. He once had his own record company. He was a Teamster.

Erik was born in Bakersfield, California. His formal education was a Westlake Jr. High and Oakland Technical High School. He also attended the University of California Berkeley, before accepting a job in the theater.
Erik James Martin was a genius. His whole life is a magnificent painting, challenging the majesty of a cloud filled with sunsets. Follow a ra in bo w to its end and you will find his home. His dreams had no boundaries. He was known and loved by some of the greatest artists of his time. The seeds of his achievements are overwhelmingly visible inside the homes of others. Eric Martin was truly original, one of a kind. Humanity will be hard pressed to duplicate the brilliance, creativity, imagination, ingenuity, and flair of Erik James Martin.
